Last Club Walk
Castle Howard on Sunday
7th
September
An ideal early Autumn day for walking around Castle Howard with warmth and
sun.
Castle Howard is one of the grandest
private residences in the UK and a prime example of Baroque architecture.
The main building was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, started in 1699 and
took over 100 years to complete. It was devastated by fire in 1940 and has
featured in several films (Brideshead Revisited). Sundays walk was in the
1,000 acres of gardens, woodlands, lakes, and fountains that surround the
house and also in the nearby countryside.
Photos from all the walks can be seen on the "Past
Walks" web page. Thanks to those members who sent in photos for the website.
